Violinist | Teacher | Clinician & Guest Speaker | Contractor

Natalie VanBurkleo-Carbonara is a freelance violinist, teacher, clinician, guest speaker and contractor in the Twin Cities. She maintains a private studio in Minneapolis and is a frequent sectional coach and adjudicator for educational organizations. Known for her creativity, advocacy, community outreach and ability to bring people together through music, Natalie is the founding director of Summit Music and has been featured in WCCO, Pioneer Press and other publications for community outreach music work focusing on seniors.  In her freelance work as a violinist, she performs with many different ensembles and manages both Arioso Strings and The Proposal Violinist.  

Natalie's professional career has offered many memorable opportunities including performances with the Twin Cities Women's Choir, Oratorio Society, Mill City Summer Opera, Chanhassen Dinner Theater, Artistry Theater, Thursday Musical, Minnesota Sinfonia, Minneapolis Pops Orchestra, Exultate, Kantorei, Twin Cities Masters Chorale, The Singers, Music in the Mountains-Durango, CO, Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, Baton Rouge Symphony, Louisiana Sinfonietta, Gulf Coast Symphony, Mobile Symphony, Acadiana Symphony, Duluth Symphony, Mankato Symphony and Rochester Symphony.  Natalie has been a soloist with the Louisiana Sinfonietta and Minnesota Sinfonia (Young Artist Competition Winner- Senior Division). She has had the pleasure of performing on programs featuring Yo-Yo Ma, Joshua Bell, Itzak Perlman, Midori, Placido Domingo, Regina Carter, Two Cellos, Michael Bublé, Randy Newman, Regis Philbin, Susan Lucci, Kelly Clarkson and Davy Jones. Recording projects have included a feature on PBS,  Ochsner Health commercials, Madea's Family Reunion Soundtrack, Dany Brillant's album Histoire d'un amour & NACCUSA.

Natalie's most influential mentors have been Sally O'Reilly, Kevork Mardirossian and Mark Bjork.  She attended Louisiana State University on full scholarship and spent several years the University of MN as well. Extensive pedagogy study includes courses with Sally O'Reilly, Kevork Mardirossian, Rebecca Henry, Northwestern University Pedagogy Weekend, Suzuki teacher training in Every Child Can, books 1, 2 & 3 and certification in the Mark O'Connor violin, viola and orchestra method. Natalie is very active in the music education community and enjoys working with students of all levels in many capacities.
